Is the CX 80U right for you?
CX 80U is the wired alternative to the catalog's Bluetooth earbuds. It connects through USB-C digital audio, so there is no Bluetooth pairing step or earbud battery to recharge. The trade-off is a 1.2 m cable and use of the source device's USB-C port while listening.
Sennheiser lists Android alongside iOS, iPadOS, computers, and SteamOS for class-compliant USB audio. Check the source device's USB audio support before buying. Its 24-bit/96 kHz capability describes the supported digital path; it does not prove an audible advantage over ACCENTUM Open or guarantee that every app outputs that format.
The ear-canal fit and three included tip sizes distinguish it from ACCENTUM Open's unsealed stem design. The official release describes passive isolation, but the cited specification does not explicitly confirm active noise cancellation. That field remains unconfirmed rather than treating passive isolation as ANC. MOMENTUM True Wireless 5 is the documented ANC option if that feature is essential.
A good fit if
- You want USB-C earbuds for a compatible Android phone without Bluetooth pairing or earbud charging.
- You want an inline microphone and a sealed fit with three supplied tip sizes.
- You want a sourced $39.95 US launch price rather than a converted international amount.
Look elsewhere if
- You want wireless movement and multipoint: ACCENTUM Open or ACCENTUM Clip is relevant.
- You want an open fit without ear-canal tips: consider ACCENTUM Open.
- You need confirmed ANC: compare MOMENTUM True Wireless 5.
Which configuration to choose
Choose the USB-C version: Black SKU 800125, White 800151, or Sakura 800152. The US store combines these with a different 3.5 mm product, CX 80S SKU 508896; that analog SKU is deliberately excluded from this record. The three USB-C colors have the same checked US store price of $39.95, which also matches the manufacturer's US launch price. RAM and storage do not apply. Unreadable Canadian, Japanese, and Malaysian regional listings are not used to infer local SKUs or availability.

Compatibility
- Platform features
- Class-compliant USB-C audio, up to 24-bit/96 kHz per Sennheiser; 1.2 m cable; inline MEMS microphone and remote; three ear-tip sizes. The 9.7 mm dynamic drivers use a closed, ear-canal fit. A model-specific software or security-update commitment is not confirmed.

- Phone requirements
- Sennheiser lists class-compliant USB digital audio on Android, iOS, iPadOS, ChromeOS, macOS, Windows, and SteamOS. A compatible USB-C audio connection is required; this does not establish direct compatibility with Lightning-only iPhones or analog 3.5 mm ports. Playback resolution also depends on the source.

Source-backed strengths and limitations
Strengths
- USB-C digital audio without Bluetooth pairing or earbud charging.
- Manufacturer-listed 24-bit/96 kHz USB audio support.
- Includes three ear-tip sizes and an inline microphone.
Limitations
- The cable occupies the source device's USB-C port.
