Is the Galaxy A57 5G right for you?

The Galaxy A57 5G is the top phone in Samsung's 2026 Galaxy A series and the least expensive phone in this index, launching at $549.99 in the US (8 GB / 128 GB). For that money it keeps several things that often get cut at this price: a 6.7-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED+ display at up to 120 Hz, IP68 water and dust resistance, Gorilla Glass Victus+ on the front and back, a 5,000 mAh battery, NFC, and Wi-Fi 6E.

Its closest comparison here is the Galaxy S26 FE, which launched $150 higher in the US at $699.99. The S26 FE adds a 3x optical telephoto, Samsung's faster Exynos 2500, 15W wireless charging, and one more promised OS upgrade (seven against six). The A57 answers with a thinner, lighter body (6.9 mm and 179 g against 7.4 mm and 193 g), a slightly larger battery (5,000 against 4,900 mAh), and a 12 GB RAM option in some markets, where every S26 FE has 8 GB. Samsung's specifications for the A57 do not mention wireless charging.

Samsung promises up to six generations of Android OS and One UI upgrades and up to six years of security updates, counted from the first global launch, and its UK store lists security updates until March 31, 2032. The phone launched with Android 16 and One UI 8.5 in April 2026, while the later S26 FE launched with Android 17. The cameras are a 50 MP main camera with OIS, a 12 MP ultra-wide, and a 5 MP macro; there is no telephoto, so anything past the main camera's view is digital zoom.

A good fit if

  • You want IP68 protection, a 6.7-inch 120 Hz AMOLED screen, and six years of security updates for less than the Galaxy S26 FE.
  • You want a large-screen phone that stays thin and light: 6.9 mm and 179 g.
  • You want 12 GB of RAM or 512 GB of storage at a mid-range price and live where Samsung sells them, such as the UK, Spain, Singapore, the UAE, or Hong Kong.
  • You mostly shoot with the main and ultra-wide cameras and rarely need optical zoom.

Look elsewhere if

  • You want optical zoom: the Galaxy S26 FE adds a 3x telephoto with OIS.
  • You want wireless charging: the Galaxy S26 FE lists 15W wireless charging, which the A57's specifications do not mention.
  • You want a smaller phone: the Galaxy S26 and Pixel 11 have 6.3-inch screens.
  • You want the longest promised support: the Galaxy S26 FE gets seven OS upgrades, and Google promises the Pixel 11 seven years of OS and security updates.

Which configuration to choose

Samsung pairs 128 GB with 8 GB of RAM and 512 GB with 12 GB, but 256 GB comes with either 8 GB or 12 GB depending on the market, so check the listing. In the US, Canada, Japan, and Australia every model has 8 GB; the US launch price was $549.99 for 128 GB. The 12 GB / 256 GB version is sold in India, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, Taiwan, and Hong Kong (Hong Kong offers only 12 GB models). The 12 GB / 512 GB version is sold in the UK, Spain, the Netherlands, Belgium, Austria, Switzerland, Portugal, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, Taiwan, and Hong Kong, but not in Germany, France, Italy, or India. Samsung's UK launch release listed 8 GB / 128 GB as an Enterprise Edition. Buy the model made for your region: SM-A576B/DS internationally, SM-A576B in Australia and Mexico, SM-A576U1 unlocked or SM-A576U from carriers in the US, SM-A576W in Canada, SM-A5760 in Hong Kong, and SM-A576Q or SM-A576D in Japan. Samsung's US and Canadian stores list fewer colors than most other markets.
