Specification-based comparison
Galaxy A57 5G vs Galaxy S26 FE: Differences
Galaxy A57 5G vs S26 FE: what the $150 US launch-price gap changes in cameras, charging, size, updates, and regional configurations.
The short answer
Consider the Galaxy A57 5G if you want the shared 6.7-inch, 120 Hz screen size and IP68 rating at a lower starting price. Consider the Galaxy S26 FE if you specifically want its 3x optical telephoto camera, listed wireless charging, or longer update commitment. A higher price does not establish better photos or longer battery life.
At US launch, the A57 started at $549.99 and the S26 FE at $699.99: a $150 difference. This comparison uses the US unlocked 8 GB / 128 GB configurations as its reference, not an imported higher-RAM A57 against a US FE (A57 launch price; S26 FE launch price).
Size and display
| Measurement | Galaxy A57 5G | Galaxy S26 FE |
|---|---|---|
| Height | 161.5 mm | 161.6 mm |
| Width | 76.8 mm | 76.9 mm |
| Depth | 6.9 mm | 7.4 mm |
| Weight | 179 g | 193 g |
| Display | 6.7-inch Super AMOLED+ | 6.7-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X |
| Refresh rate | Up to 120 Hz | 60/120 Hz |
The dimensions come from Samsung’s A57 specification table and S26 FE specification table. The FE is 14 g heavier and 0.5 mm thicker, with almost the same height and width. It is not the smaller-phone alternative.
Both displays are labeled FHD+, but the catalog has no confirmed exact pixel dimensions for the FE. The panel names alone do not establish how legible either screen will be in your lighting. If reach or pocket fit is the problem, the 6.3-inch Pixel 11 Pro is a more relevant size alternative than switching between these two Samsung models.
Cameras: telephoto or macro
Both phones list a 50 MP main camera, 12 MP ultrawide, and 12 MP front camera. Their third rear cameras serve different purposes: the A57 has a 5 MP macro camera, while the FE has an 8 MP telephoto with optical image stabilization and 3x optical zoom (Samsung A57 cameras; Samsung FE cameras).
For someone who regularly frames a subject from farther away, the FE offers a dedicated telephoto option. A macro camera is intended for close subjects and does not supply the same framing. Treat that as a lens choice, rather than turning the megapixel counts into a photo-quality ranking. Shared main-camera resolution also does not mean identical cameras or processing.
Battery and charging
Samsung lists typical capacities of 5,000 mAh for the A57 and 4,900 mAh for the FE. That 100 mAh difference cannot tell you which lasts longer in your use. Both support 45W wired charging, with the required adapter sold separately (A57 charging; FE charging).
Samsung quotes up to 60% in around 30 minutes for the A57 and up to 69% for the FE. Those are manufacturer figures under their respective conditions, not a matched charging test. More useful for an existing desk or bedside setup: the FE explicitly supports 15W wireless charging and Wireless PowerShare. Wireless charging is Not confirmed in the A57 record because the checked specifications do not list it; silence is not proof that a feature is absent.
If wireless charging is a purchase requirement, the FE has the sourced support statement. If you always plug in, weigh its other differences before paying for that feature.
Processor and software support
The A57 uses Exynos 1680 and launched with Android 16 / One UI 8.5. The FE uses Exynos 2500 and launched with Android 17 / One UI 9 (A57 processor; FE processor and launch software). This establishes different hardware and starting software, not a measured performance gap. Both reference configurations have 8 GB of RAM.
Samsung promises up to six OS generations and six years of security updates for the A57, versus seven OS generations and seven years for the FE, counted from their global launches (A57 policy; FE policy). These periods began at launch, not when you buy a phone.
The A57’s UK product page additionally specifies security support through March 31, 2032. Its US page instead describes six years from global manufacture in Q2 2026. The FE record has no confirmed calendar end date. Keep those regional statements distinct rather than calculating a promised cutoff (Samsung UK date; Samsung US wording). Our Android update guide explains the difference between an upgrade count and a support period.
What is the same
Both have 5G, Wi-Fi 6E, the same listed screen diagonal, and an IP68 rating. Their reference memory and storage capacities match, and both require a separately purchased adapter for their advertised 45W charging. Those shared basics reduce the reason to pay more if you do not need the FE’s specific additions (A57 specifications; FE specifications).
Price and regional configurations
The $150 gap is a comparison of historical US starting prices, not a promise about current deals, trade-in credits, or other currencies. Get same-capacity local quotes before deciding. Samsung lists US 128 GB and 256 GB options for both phones with 8 GB RAM (A57 US memory options; FE US storage options).
The device records identify the US unlocked families as SM-A576U1 and SM-S741U1. Their full configuration lists also separate carrier and international models. The A57’s global table includes 12 GB RAM options, while the FE’s global table lists 8 GB RAM with storage up to 512 GB. Those global options are not automatically US options (A57 global configurations; FE global configurations). Check the model and market on the linked device pages before importing.
Who each suits
The A57 suits someone who prefers its lower US launch price and lighter body, and does not require a dedicated telephoto or a sourced wireless-charging commitment. The FE suits someone who will use those features or places value on its additional promised OS generation and security year.
If neither addresses your needs, change the shortlist rather than stretching the comparison: consider a smaller phone for reach, a higher-storage local configuration for files, or the Galaxy S26 range when you need different flagship hardware. Make the decision around the specific difference you will use.
