Is the Galaxy S26 Ultra right for you?
The Galaxy S26 Ultra is Samsung's answer for people who want the biggest screen and the most camera reach in a regular slab phone. Its 6.9-inch QHD+ panel is the largest display among the phones in this index that do not fold, and it is the only one here with a privacy mode built into the screen itself, which Samsung says limits what people beside you can see without a separate protector.
The camera system is the clearest difference from smaller flagships. Alongside the 200 MP main camera, it carries two optical telephotos, 3x and 5x, so portraits and mid-distance shots can use a dedicated lens instead of a crop. Samsung also quotes the fastest wired charging of the phones listed here: up to 75% in about 30 minutes, with a 60W adapter bought separately.
The trade-off is size. At 163.6 x 78.1 mm and 214 g it is noticeably taller and wider than the 6.3-inch Pixel 11 Pro, and Samsung commits to seven generations of OS upgrades and seven years of security updates, counted from the global launch date.
A good fit if
- You want the largest non-folding screen and use your phone for reading, video, or split-screen work.
- You shoot at mid and long distances and want both 3x and 5x optical lenses.
- Fast wired charging matters to you and you are willing to buy a 60W adapter.
- You value a privacy screen for commuting or working in public.
Look elsewhere if
- You want a phone that is comfortable one-handed: the 6.3-inch Galaxy S26 weighs 167 g, and the 6.3-inch Pixel 11 Pro is also about 11 mm shorter.
- You want a large Samsung flagship for less: the Galaxy S26+ launched at $1,099.99 with a 6.7-inch QHD+ screen, without the 5x telephoto, privacy display, or 60W charging.
- You want a larger screen that folds away: the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra opens to 8.0 inches.
Which configuration to choose
All three US configurations share the same chip, cameras, and battery; only memory and storage change. The 256 GB and 512 GB models both have 12 GB of RAM, so pay for 512 GB only if you need the storage. The 1 TB model is the only one with 16 GB of RAM. For most buyers the 256 GB model at the $1,299.99 launch price is the sensible starting point, since there is no microSD slot listed for later expansion.
