Is the Galaxy Watch8 Classic right for you?

The Galaxy Watch8 Classic is Samsung's 2025 smartwatch for people who want a traditional round-watch look and physical controls. It pairs a rotating bezel with a quick button on a 46 mm case, a 1.34-inch 438 x 438 Super AMOLED display under sapphire crystal, the Exynos W1000 processor, and 2 GB of memory with 64 GB of storage.

Samsung's July 2026 launch brought the Galaxy Watch9 and Watch Ultra2 but no new Classic, so this is still the model to choose for a turning bezel. Against the Galaxy Watch9 it has twice the storage and a published battery figure, up to 40 hours with Always On Display off. The Watch9 is newer and lighter (34.0 g at 44 mm against 63.5 g), launched with Wear OS 7, and adds Bluetooth 6.0.

Durability is 5ATM, IP68, and MIL-STD-810H, the same ratings as the Watch9; the Watch Ultra2 is the Samsung watch for diving and rougher use. Like every current Galaxy Watch, it only works with Android phones that have Google Mobile Services.

A good fit if

  • You want a rotating bezel so you can scroll without covering the screen.
  • You want a published battery figure: Samsung lists up to 40 hours with Always On Display off.
  • You keep music or maps on the watch and want 64 GB of storage.

Look elsewhere if

  • You have smaller wrists or want a lighter watch: the Galaxy Watch8 comes in 40 mm and 44 mm at 30.0 g and 34.0 g and launched at $349.99, and the Galaxy Watch9 weighs 31.5 g or 34.0 g.
  • You dive or need a tougher case: the Galaxy Watch Ultra2 adds 10ATM, IP69K, and EN13319 dive certification.
  • You use an iPhone.

Which configuration to choose

There is one size (46 mm) and one memory configuration (2 GB with 64 GB), so the choice is connectivity and color. The Bluetooth model, SM-L500, launched at $499.99 in the United States and relies on your phone for data. The LTE model, $549.99 at US launch, can take calls and messages away from your phone; it is SM-L505U in the United States and SM-L505F elsewhere. Black is sold in every listed market; White is not listed for the Bluetooth model in India or the LTE model in Thailand.
