Is the Galaxy Watch8 right for you?
The Galaxy Watch8 is Samsung's 2025 everyday smartwatch, for Android phone owners who want a light watch to wear all day and to bed. It comes in 40 mm and 44 mm sizes at 30.0 g and 34.0 g, with sapphire crystal over a 1.34-inch or 1.47-inch Super AMOLED display, the Exynos W1000, and 32 GB of storage.
It is the plainer half of the Watch8 series. The Galaxy Watch8 Classic adds a rotating bezel and 64 GB of storage in a single 46 mm case that weighs 63.5 g, and launched at $499.99 in the US against $349.99 for the Watch8. Samsung rates both at up to 40 hours with Always On Display off.
Its successor, the Galaxy Watch9, launched in 2026 with Wear OS 7 and Bluetooth 6.0, and its 40 mm model is slightly heavier at 31.5 g. The Watch8 remains on sale in 32 of Samsung's stores checked for this record, and like every current Galaxy Watch it works only with Android phones that have Google Mobile Services.
A good fit if
- You want a light Samsung watch for sleep and fitness tracking and do not need a rotating bezel.
- You have smaller wrists: the 40 mm model weighs 30.0 g.
- You want a published battery figure: Samsung lists up to 40 hours with Always On Display off.
Look elsewhere if
- You want a rotating bezel and more storage: the Galaxy Watch8 Classic has both, at 46 mm.
- You want the newest software and Bluetooth 6.0: the Galaxy Watch9 launched with Wear OS 7.
- You dive or need a tougher case: the Galaxy Watch Ultra2 adds 10ATM, IP69K, and EN13319 dive certification.
Which configuration to choose
Pick the size first: 40 mm for smaller wrists and the lightest body, 44 mm for the larger 1.47-inch display and the 435 mAh battery; Samsung rates both at up to 40 hours. The Bluetooth models (SM-L320 and SM-L330) launched from $349.99 in the US and rely on your phone for data; the LTE models, from $399.99 at US launch, can take calls away from your phone. They are SM-L325U and SM-L335U in the United States and SM-L325F and SM-L335F elsewhere. Both colors, Graphite and Silver, are listed in every store checked.
